Olympus EndoCuff Vision in rochester, ny

What is the Olympus EndoCuff Vision?

A small device that attaches to the endoscope that makes it possible for your doctor to better see all of your colon during your colonoscopy procedure today.

Is it safe?

Yes. The EndoCuff Vision is FDA-cleared and has been shown to be safe and effective at helping doctors better see inside your colon, which means they are more likely to find small polyps and adenomas.

Is it effective?

Yes. Although the use of the EndoCuff Vision is not industry standard for colonoscopy procedures at this time, in a meta-analysis of recent clinical studies, the use of the EndoCuff Vision resulted in an 11% increase in adenoma detection rate (ADR) compared to a standard colonoscopy. Each 1% increase in ADR may be associated with a 3% decrease in the risk of interval cancer.

How much does it cost?

The cost for us to use the EndoCuff Vision is $117.00. It is not covered by insurance.

Why doesn’t my insurance pay for this?

A medical device being FDA-cleared does not automatically mean that it will be covered by insurance. Additionally, medical billing is very complicated and it can take years from the time a new device is approved for use by the FDA until a code is nationally accepted for insurance billing.

I want my doctor to use EndoCuff Vision today during my colonoscopy. What happens next?

You will be asked to sign a consent form authorizing the use of the EndoCuff Vision and will be charged $117.00 up front.

Do I need to have EndoCuff Vision used in my colonoscopy today?

No. It is completely optional and while the EndoCuff Vision is not currently the standard of care, we believe this safe and effective tool helps provide the best quality of care that can be offered

Your physician recommends the use of Endocuff whenever possible during your colonoscopy.
